Consider approval of the minutes of the July 20th ,2017 meeting and take any necessary action.

The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this
19th day of October 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with
the following members present:

CALL TO ORDER
Gary Davis called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
ITEM 1 — Summary of Golf Operations 4th Quarter
Russell reported on the 4th quarter of 2017 vs 2016. Almost all categories were reported as an
increase over 2016 It was also reported that new signage was scheduled.for the Mockingbird
and Pecan nines sometime over the fall and winter. The parking lot was reported as being
resurfaced and striped.
ITEM 2 — Clubhouse Proicet update and Discusion of upcoming Bond Election
The staff reported that all the golf staff had been talking to all the guests that checked in to play
golf about the upcoming vote for the bond election concerning the new clubhouse project. Mike
Lease discussed the importance of the Advisory Board members getting the word out to be sure
and vote for the upcoming Bond projects. The golf staff said that they would put notices up
around the shop and on the golf carts and website concerning the Bond projects and the voting
dates for the projects. The discussion of reminding voters that there is not a tax increase
associated with these Bond projects was had. It was brought up that the High School coaches
might help get the word out on the Bond project vote. Russel commented that he would share the
promo video done by the City on the website of the Golf course along with a link to the City
website with the video. Bryan asked if he could get the link to share with his golf parents. Gary
Davis ask the question about any additional signage that might be needed. Mike Lease addressed
the question of Gary Davis as to the involvement of the CVB in the project at the Golf Course.
ITEM 3 — Instructional prouram update Pr Academy, GGR Jr Lealzue Zol
Robert reported on the growth of the Grapevine Jr. Academy, the PGA Junior League
involvement and the Get Golf Ready programs that the Golf Course is involved with. The
Academy had 12 Kids through June, but the slow growth is expected on a new program like this.
The Golf course will reach out to the elementary schools and the junior high schools over the
winter months to increase exposure. The junior camps were a success, all beingfidl and the Get
Golf Ready classes instructed by Eric Hunt have all had full classes both level I and II with
additional classes needing to be added. Referral, from existing students has help make this
program a success.
ITEM 4 — The Possibility of emailing a monthly statement with transactions and balances
to GGA members that have a balance with the golf shop
Ronnie Harley ask the golfstaff ifa report could be generated to inform GGA members about
their account balances generated, from GGA events. Robert S. said that the staff would look into
possible .solutions to the question.
ITEM 5 — Bryan Humphreys presentation to Golf Course
Bryan Humphreys presented the Golf Staff with a plaque displaying the State medal won by the
2017 Girls State Champions honoring their title. The plaque was in recognition of the continued
support of the Golf Course and the City of Grapevine.
ITEM 6 — Golf Course Maintenance Report
Merlin reported that the first round of new signage. for the Pecan nine as well as nem, directional
signs would be installed in late fall and over the winter months. The second round ofsigns for
the Mockingbird nine would be ordered and installed immediately following the Pecan nine.
Robert Blalock asked how the Drylect Aerification process went. Merlin reported that it was a
financial victory but only time would tell whether or not the future soil samples would tell if the
process was truly a success from a health of the greens point.
Gary Davis ask about the depth of sand in the new Bunkers. Merlin reported that the staff is still
learning how to manage the depth consistency.
Russell reported about the request by the Corp of Engineers to remove the piled debris by
Merlin's shop.
Gary made a comment that he has had many comments on the friendliness of the Golf staff.
Russell replied that the staff is the best staff that he has ever had and that the staff has been well
received.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Consideration to approve the minutes from the July 20th, 2017 meeting were approved with Tom
Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Robert Blalock with a second to the
motion. All in Favor: all

ADJOURNMENT Tom Kormondy asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. A motion to
approve was made by Garry Davis and a second was made by Robert Blalock. All in
