MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 2013
SUBJECT: RIGHT-OF-WAY ABANDONMENT — HILLTOP DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider adopting an ordinance abandoning a five-foot wide strip of Hilltop
Drive right-of-way extending for a distance of approximately 159 feet west from Lot 5-C,
Block 7, W. C. Lucas Addition, authorizing the City Manager to execute a Quit Claim
Deed to the abutting property owner, and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND:
Hilltop Drive runs roughly east — west from Dove Road to Lucas Drive. It is a residential
street that requires 50 feet of right-of-way. The property on the south side of Hilltop
Drive just east of Dove Road reflects an additional five feet of right-of-way on the south
side of the street for a length of approximately 159 feet. This right of way line is off set
to the south from the continuation of the right-of-way east to Lucas Drive based upon a
50-foot right-of-way width.
The right-of-way will be retained as a utility easement and incorporated into Lots 1, 2, &
3, Block 1, Dove Pointe addition Final Plat.
Staff has reviewed the request and has no objections.
Staff recommends approval.
