MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 2013
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO REJECT BIDS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF 29 CHEVROLET VEHICLES, RFB 397-2013
RECOMMENDATION.
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to reject all bids for the purchase of 29
Chevrolet vehicles.
BACKGROUND:
The rejection of all bids for 29 Chevrolet vehicles, Request for Bid 397-2013 is allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Section 252.043 (f).
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in
the Fort Worth Star Telegram on December 13 and 20, 2012. The bid was opened
publicly on January 21, 2013.
Through the City's eBid system, 56 vendors viewed the bid due to the electronic
notifications, the bid advertisement or City's purchasing website bid notice. Three bids
were submitted.
Public Works Fleet Services recommends rejecting all bids taken on Request for Bid
397-2013 in order to consider the purchase of all 29 Chevrolet vehicles using
cooperative contracts with the State of Texas and Tarrant County which will provide a
lower overall cost to the City than the bids submitted.
Staff recommends approval.
