CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES
Consider approval of the minutes of the October 19th ,2017 meeting and take any necessary action.

The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this
19th day of January, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with
the following members present:

CALL TO ORDER
Gary Davis called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
ITEM 1 -- Summary of Golf Operations 1st Quarter
Russell reported on the 2nd quarter of 2018 vs 2017. Russell reported that the second quarter to
budget and previous year were very positive. Mike Lease agreed and commented that it was a
shining star. Russell commented that the good weather during the period was a major factor.
Robert Blalock ask if the course covers its expenses. Both Mike Lease and Russell commented
that the course has had a profit the past two years.
ITEM 2 — Clubhouse Project update
Russell commented that the Clubhouse project is moving forward. Russell stated that the
Concourse piece of the original project would remain intact but greatly rehabbed with the major
part of the tab, falling with the CVB. Some funds would be allocated from the Bond Project. A
pavilion piece would be added to the project to handle golf outings. Bryan Humphreys ask about
the timeline of the project. It was reported that the actual start date would most likely be towards
the end of 2018 or early 2019. The original conceptual plan would most likely change to, fit the
best site for the project.
ITEM 3 — Instructional vro2rarn update Jr Academy, GGR Jr Lea ue o1
Robert reported on the growth of the Grapevine Jr. Academy, the PGA Junior League
involvement and the Get Golf Ready programs that the Golf Course is involved with. The
Academy continues to grow but slowly as expected. Reaching out to the elementary schools and
the junior high schools is being done to increase exposure. Junior camps, PGA Junior League
matches and Get Golf Ready classes are being set, with inquiries already beginning, for spring
and summer.
ITEM 4 — Golf Course Maintenance Report
Merlin reported that the first round of new signage for the Pecan nine as well as new directional
signs are in hand and installation would begin over the winter months. Completion of both
Mockingbird and Bluebonnet is anticipated by the end of the summer. New trash containers are
being installed on the Pecan Nine.
Winter maintenance on equipment is being done and will continue as part of the annual process.
Golf course clearing and tree trimming are also a priority. Robert Blalock ask about the area
close to the maintenance shop that had been cleaned up. Russell reported that the cleanup was at
the request of the CORP of Engineers.
CONSIDERA'T'ION OF MINUTES
Consideration to approve the minutes. from the October 19th, 2017 meeting were approved with
Tom Kormondy making the motion to approve the minutes and Lou Capone with a second to the
motion. All in Favor: all

ADJOURNMENT Gary Davis asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. A motion to
approve was made by Bryan Humphreys and a second was made by Jonathan Wall. All
in favor.- all
