1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 pm on June 5, 2018 at
The REC of Grapevine.
The following members were present:
Dick Guckel, Chairperson
Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
Duff O'Dell, City Council Member Liaison
Teri Rhodes -Cantu, Housing Authority
Pam Price
Stacy Pacholick, GRACE
Isabelle Boyd
Carey Miller

3. Consideration of minutes for April 3, 2018 meeting
Approved
4. Citizen Requests
Isabelle Boyd — Mayl l Picnic with Allen Senior Center was great with good weather
and food.
-Chorus had a Memorial Day Program at The REC in May; will be taking a break
until August.
5. New Business
a. Teri Rhodes -Cantu — Housing Authority
-HUD has new regulations for smoking.
-Mailed a letter to everyone on the waiting list for housing; they will need
responses back by June 30 to stay on wait list.
-Will have a picnic on Friday, June 8 for the residents.
b. Stacy Pacholick— GRACE
-Maryann Waddell is moving, they are looking for a replacement.
-74 commodities were served.
-The clinic and pantry that were burned and damaged from a fire has moved
into the old police station. They are refurbishing the damaged unit and hope
to be open by October.
-(Carey Miller asked a question to Stacy) Will there be a reading program
this summer for the kids? Stacy answered: Yes, it will be on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at GRACE from 12pm to fpm.
c. Duff O'Dell
-Voting with a runoff for the school board.
-The Trade Group has moved headquarters to Grapevine.
-Working on the railroad, parking garage, hotel and depot..
-Bessie Mitchell house will be remodeled at some point.
-Feed Our Kids is going on this week.
-On the third Thursday of this month there will be a luncheon and an
overview of Grapevine.
d. Trent Kelley — Recreation Manager
-Exofit : workout station will be going up in the courtyard, it is geared
towards Active Adults.
-Oak Grove softball fields are under construction.
-July 7 Keep Grapevine Beautiful is doing a Litter Index Score of Grapevine.
-Aquapark is at Meadowmere Park, it is a floating play structure in the lake.
-Father/Son event is this Saturday, June 9; it has an Amazing Race theme.
-The outdoor swimming pools opened last Friday for the summer.
-Summer camps are in full swing.
-The REC will be receiving two new vehicles for the Active Adults.
-Partnering with Goodwill and The Texas Workforce this summer for Earn
and Learn students. These students are special needs; they will work on job
skills as well as get paid. The REC is working with GCISD students on this
program.
-Swim lessons started yesterday at the outdoor pools.
-PARD is cooking Wednesday for Feed Our Kids.
-Grapevine softball will host an All Star tournament this weekend.
-Cub Scouts will be at Lakeview this Saturday.
-There is voting at The REC.
-Asked GRACE if they would like to partner with Active Adults in providing
box fans to the seniors in need.
e. Eileen Hinson — Active Adult Supervisor
-All of the outdoor activities have taken a break, indoor activities include
movies at The Palace Theater once a month during the summer.
-We are partnering with the Library with various activities.
-There will be a Casino Night Dance with Pete and Patti providing music on
July 28.
-Have various field trips going on.
f. Dick Guckel
-Tax Aide completed over 250 tax returns this year. They had 9 volunteers to
help with the program.
