1. Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:30 pm on August
7, 2018 at The REC of Grapevine.
The following members were present:
Tena Burrell, Co -Chairperson
Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
Duff O'Dell, City Council Liaison
Roger Jones
Teri Rhodes -Cantu, Housing Authority Liaison
Isabelle Boyd, REC Liaison
Christine Szymaszek, GRACE Liaison
Stacy Pacholick, GRACE Liaison

What is the timeframe for the ice water machine in the lounge to be fixed?
Brian from Facilities has contacted the company to get the issue resolved.
There are concerns over the two north exits of The REC parking lot. The
one closest to the field has a stop sign whereas the one closest to the
building does not. Trent will get with Francis Bishop from Traffic to discuss
this issue.
Casino Night was great. Food was awesome and a good time was had by
all.

Chorus will resume on August 16. They will sing tunes from the 50's.
Informational Items
City Council report — Duff O'Dell
Project on the corner of Main and Dallas is on schedule.
New project near Bass Pro Drive will include a hotel, apartments and
business buildings.
About to begin construction on Salt Lick BBQ.
5-10 Rotarians went to help a citizen cut trees, mow lawn etc. They are
looking for 2 additional families to help.
Housing Authority report — Teri Rhodes -Cantu
The board has been re-elected.
Housing Authority Christmas party will be on December 7, 11 AM -1 PM,
at the Elks Lodge.
Waiting list for housing has been updated.
GRACE report — Christine Szymaszek
Given out 5 fans so far from The REC Box Out Summer Campaign.
71 seniors have been served with commodities.
Home Depot sent out volunteers to help an elderly couple rebuild/fix
their sidewalks, put in pavers, turf and a ramp in order to help them
move freely around their property. They are also looking for a bigger
project to assist an elderly veteran.
Backpack and school supply donations have come in. If someone is in
need of back -to -school supplies, GRACE will assist.
Let GRACE know of any seniors in need for Christmas presents.
The REC report — Trent Kelley
Looking into developing a partnership with the school district to provide
outdoor education projects.
Looking into making the Learn and Earn Program a year-long program.
This is a partnership between The REC, Goodwill and Texas
Workforce Commission.
Outdoor shuffleboard court is being removed and active adult exercise
equipment will be installed.
Baseball and softball will begin on September 8.
GoGrapevine magazines should be in households August 15-17.
REC will be closed September 4-9 for annual maintenance.
Active Adult Supervisor — Eileen Hinson
We are still recruiting volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters
Generations Program.
Computer Classes begin next week, August 13.
Casino Night had 125 attendees.
Currently promoting two Collette Vacation trips to Peru and the Almalfi
Coast.
