K in R. itchell, (rector of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met August 16, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administration Conference Room at The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS LIAISONS Christian Ross Paul Slechta (City Council) Roy Robertson Jorge Rodriguez (GCISD Board) Ray Harris Annemarie Martin (GCISD Student) Joe Luccioni John Dalri Terry Musar Mark Assaad Dave Buhr Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Kevin Mitchell, Director Chris Smith, Deputy Director Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager Morgan Davidson, Outdoor Programs Coordinator Elisha Davis, Recreation Summer Camp Coordinator The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. _Approval of Minutes A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Mark Assaad to approve the July 19, 2018 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Christian Ross, Roy Robertson, Ray Harris, Joe Luccioni, John Dalri, Terry Musar, Mark Assaad, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Citizen Comments No citizen comments were received. Presentation: Elisha Davis gave a presentation over The REC summer camps. In total, 1,221 kids participated in over 60 camps. Morgan Davidson gave a presentation over the inaugural Dove Creek Day Camp. There were 9 sessions of camp which included a total of 270 campers (186 unique campers), from 16 different zip codes. PARD Information Items: Kevin Mitchell reported on the following: • Athletics: The new Ultimate Frisbee league, Grapefest Tennis Classic & Carnival of Tennis. • Capital Projects: Bessie Mitchell House & Bear Creek Dog Park • Lake Parks: GO Wild program, Altitude H2O, & the new automated wood vending machine. • Events: GrapeYard & Carol of Lights • Park Maintenance: Trail signage, Lakeview Park restroom, Meadowmere Park restroom, monarch butterfly habitat restoration at the Parr Park greenbelt and Lakepoint Park. • Marketing: Marketing video, Dude Perfect & social media stats. • Recreation: The last day of pools is September 4, Altie Jones is starting as the new Fitness Coordinator & The REC will be closed for the annual maintenance and cleaning September 4-9. • Volunteerism: Happy to Help at Minnow Loop on August 25. Miscellaneous Board Items: Student Report — Annemarie Martin reported on the following: The first day of school is August 20, freshman (fish) camp registration and painting parking spots as a fundraiser for prom. GCISD Report — Jorge Rodriguez reported on the following: Cannon Elementary, the football stadium, and the rating and closing the gap of STAAR, ACT & SAT student achievements. Adjourn A motion was made by Mark Assaad and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
