SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A BOOK LEASING
SERVICE FOR THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to purchase book leasing services with Brodart
McNaughton Book Service for the Library Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in account 100-44573-313-1 (General/Library/Leases&Rentals Fund)
for an amount not to exceed $20,833.43.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The contract with Brodart McNaughton Book Service is for book leasing services to the
Library. Brodart has provided this service in the past as part of the Library's book leasing
program. The service provides a certain collection of recently published, popular and best-
selling books while the books are in high demand. This service period is from December 1,
2012 through November 30, 2013.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City's Purchasing Policy. Quotes were
received from two vendors Brodart McNaughton Book Service and Baker and Taylor Inc.,
the only suppliers for book leasing services.
Brodart McNaughton Book Service meets all specifications and submitted lowest price for
book leasing services. Brodart McNaughton Book Service has a proven track record of
supplying the largest selection of leasing materials for the Library and provides excellent
customer service.
Staff recommends an award to Brodart McNaughton Book Service.
