HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Z01-19 and CU01-71 Wal-MartMEMORANDUM CITY OF GRAPEVINE TEXAS TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGES R DATE: JANUARY 14, 2002 SUBJECT: ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS - SIGNAGE This afternoon Tommy Hardy and I spoke with John Boyle about the timing of the change to zoning ordinance for the pole signs along Highway 26. After reviewing the advertising for the public hearing for the parking lane widths, as well as the wording of the agenda item for the lane widths, it is John's opinion that we will be able to include the signage amendment in tomorrow night's zoning ordinance amendments. As I shared with some of you in conversations earlier today, we were looking at doing a Wal-Mart second reading on February 5t". That will no longer be necessary and we will be able to close out the Wal-Mart case tomorrow night. The work that they did to get to the prototypical parking area added roughly 10. parking islands, which addpo 10 more live oaks than the original landscaping plan shows. They are trying to get the revised landscaping plan done for tomorrow night's public hearing. During our meeting with Wal -Mart's engineers this afternoon they said that Wal- Mart still wants to have the Super Center open by Christmas and that they believed they would be able to also get the Sam's Club open by Christmas. I was asked today to check on the creek area in order to make sure that the area would stay natural. The engineer assured me that it would stay natural as disturbing the area would force them into a 404 Permit process.
