MEETING DATE: JULY 16, 1996 '1
SUBJECT: PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 49, SPECIAL URE
PERMITS OF THE GRAPEVINE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING
ORDINANCE 82-73
Staff recommends City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission review and
consider the proposed amendment relative to height of churches and take any action
deemed necessary.
The attached amendment to Section 49, Special Use Permits would allow churches
who wish to exceed the maximum height of their specific zoning district to apply for
a special use permit to be approved by City Council.
At the request of the Board of Zoning Adjustment, Staff brought the issue of
churches requesting variances to exceed the maximum height regulations to the
Planning and Zoning Commission at the June 13, 1996 Workshop. The Board of
Zoning Adjustment felt these requests were more land use oriented because they
have no physical hardships to relate. The Planning and Zoning Commission
authorized Staff to set a public hearing to review and consider the proposed
amendments on July 16, 1996.
