Main Street Grapevine, Texas 76051 Dear David; Pursuant to our requests and directives at our February 15, 2019 site meeting, I have completed structural steel design plans for the patio extension at the above referenced facility/building. As discussed on site, extension of the patio awning framing will necessitate adding two columns at the second floor that will sit upon the north to south steel beam that supports this patio slab. This will also necessitate adding two steel box beams that will tie into the perimeter steel beam that carries the three existing box beams for the patio framing cover. Installation of the new columns will necessitate coring through the patio slab to the underlying steel beam to secure to this beam as detailed on the section drawing. With the extension of the patio awning, it will be necessary to weld box beams extensions to the existing beams. To supplement shear strength, 10' long flitch plates will be welded to the outsides of the three existing beams to be extended. See detail. As noted on the plan, there will be an outside perimeter C10 x 10 channel beam that will tie the east to west beams together and will turn into the building for additional support. This channel must tie into the interior steel wall framework so it will resist the required 90 mph winds to meet the 2015 International Residential Code. Sincerely, ego """ '` Op ate W.
