Call to Order
The Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board met at 3:40 pm on April 2,
2019 at The REC of Grapevine.
The following were present:
Dick Guckel, Chairperson
Tena Burrell
Pam Price
Roger Jones
Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager
Eileen Hinson, Active Adult Supervisor
Teri Rhodes -Cantu, Housing Authority Liaison
Christine Szymaszek, GRACE Liaison
Isabelle Boyd, REC Liaison
Those not present:

Housing Authority report — Teri Rhodes -/Cantu
The annual Christmas party at the Elks Club was a success.
Slab work on the Housing Authority office building is being done.
They are taking bids on roof repairs.

The REC report — Trent Kelley
The Rotary Duck Race is at The REC on April 4, 5-7 PM.
Saturday is the Wettest Egg Hunt at The REC.
April 13 is the Garden Club plant sale at the Bessie Mitchell House and
Go Grapevine Games is at Parr Park 10 AM -2 PM.
April 20 is Earth Day.
April 29 is Membership Appreciation Day; there will be food, activities
and entertainment all day long.
May 4 is Election Day.
Grapevine Baseball Softball had a successful Opening Day on March
23 and Oak Grove Softball Field should open this summer.
Active Adult Supervisor — Eileen Hinson
Active Adults has a new employee, Brandon Ware.
AARP Tax Aide has 34 appointment slots each Wednesday February
6 -April 10 and most weeks are filled to capacity.
Active Adults has adopted Acorn Park to clean up and a group will be
participating in the Texas Trash Off on April 6 to pick up trash.
GRACE report — Christine Szymaszek
The Women's Division of the Chamber partnered with GRACE and
delivered gifts to 100 seniors.
96 families were given groceries to prepare their Christmas dinner.
Commodities are given to 115 seniors per month.
85 seniors are involved in the Friends & Family program.
6 Stones is a community revitalization program and 7 homeowners in
Grapevine are being helped this weekend.
GRACE helped a 70 -year old man obtain cataract surgery, new
eyeglasses and dental work.
Christine has been able to help some GRACE seniors save on their
medical insurance.
This meeting adjourned at 4:16 pm.
