HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 21 - Tandum Dump TruckMEMOTO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: MAY 7, 2019 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TANDEM DUMP TRUCK RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a tandem dump truck from Grande Truck Center for the Public Works Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in account 325-48910-415-003 (Motor Vehicles) for a total amount not to exceed $149,791. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for one 2020 Mack 64BR Tandem Dump Truck for the Public Works Street Department replacing a unit that was approved in the FY 2019 Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Budget. This unit is used for transport of asphalt, fill dirt, sand and gravel for City projects and shared between several departments as needed. The vehicle meets the department requirements and specifications. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with Houston -Galveston Area Council (H -GAC) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Grande Truck Center. The Fleet Service and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
