HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - GeneratorsMEMOTO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JUNE 4, 2019 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO GENERATORS RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of two generators from Cummins Southern Plains, LLC for the Fire Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in the Capital Projects General Facilities Fund for a total amount not to exceed $96,620. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for two 175 KW generators and two auto transfer switches for Fire Stations 1 and 4. These generators will be installed during the construction projects. The generators will provide backup power for the buildings. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with Houston -Galveston Area Council (H -GAC) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Cummins Southern Plains, LLC. The Facility Services and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
