SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING — 36th YEAR COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council conduct a Public Hearing to receive input relative to the proposed 36th Year
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program waterline replacement project,
authorize staff to proceed with the application submittal to Tarrant County and take any
necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE
Funding is available in the CDBG 36th Year Funding account.
BACKGROUND:
The scope of the project is:
• the replacement of an old 6"waterline in the 400 thru 700 block of West Vine Street
with a new 8" pvc water line, and
• the replacement of water service lines in the:
0 2900 & 3000 blocks of Southridge,
0 2800 &2900 blocks of Brookshire,
0 280.0 & 2900 blocks of Harvest Hill,
0 2800 & 2900 blocks of Ridgewood,
0 2800, 2900 & 3000 blocks of Cresthaven, and
o 2100 block of Westbrook
The Vine Street waterline replacement is located in the Bellaire Addition, CDBG Target
Area, designated as census tract 1137.0511 in the 2000 Census.
The water service line replacements are located in the Oak Creek Estates Addition, CDBG
Target Area, designated as census tract 1136.2012 in the 2000 Census..
These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the areas by providing an improved
water system and water service to the residences.
The cost estimate for this project including engineering is $390,152.
Staff recommends approval.
