SUBJECT: MATERIAL TESTING CONTRACT— GRAPEVINE
CONVENTION AND VISITOR'S BUREAU HEADQUARTERS &
MUSEUM COMPLEX
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving a contract with Terracon Consultants, Incorporated in an
amount not to exceed $28,243.20 for material testing and inspection services on the
Grapevine Convention and Visitor's Bureau Headquarters and Museum complex, authorize
City staff to execute said contract, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are currently programmed in account 177-48840-016-350.
BACKGROUND:
The scope of the project, addressing both site work and building construction, includes the
following:
• earthwork, including soil densities for paving, trench back-fill, grade beam backfill
• drilled pier observation & documentation
• concrete testing for piers, grade beams, building floors, site structures and paving
• reinforcing steel inspection
• structural steel, joists & metal deck weld inspection
• asphalt paving testing for site paving
The proposed scope of testing is consistent with similar site improvement projects and
addresses the standard testing and observations required by the building permit and
inspection staff.
Staff recommends approval.
