FOR THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CENTER THROUGH AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT
PURCHASING COOPERATIVE (BUYBOARD).
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the purchase of fitness equipment from Fitness
Center Outfitters for the Community Activities Center in the total amount of$32,905.50.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 325-48860-312-11, 325-43465-312-11, 325-48860-312-
11, Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund/Machinery and Equipment/Parks and
100-44540-109-1 from Risk Management.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement with the
Local Government Purchasing. Cooperative (Buyboard) as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Section 791.001. A contract was awarded to Fitness Center
Outfitters under Buyboard contract number 336-10. The Interlocal Agreement and
Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local
Government Code.
Each year the Community Activities Center replaces one third of the cardiovascular
equipment in the CAC fitness room. This allows the CAC to keep all of its cardiovascular
equipment under warranty and provide its members with the most up-to-date equipment
on the market. It also helps to drastically reduce the CAC maintenance budget as
commercial cardiovascular equipment only has a three year life expectancy in a high
traffic environment.
A list of the equipment and associated warranty, installation and freight charges is
attached for review.
