healthy life.
• Families often cut back on groceries to pay
for rent, utilities, medicine, etc.
• Nationally 1 in 8 American Households
experience food insecurity.
Texas percentiles
• Texas ranks #2 in the Nation for total number of food-
insecure individuals.
• Texas' overall rate of food insecurity is 15.4% (National:
12.9%)and child food insecurity is 23% (National: 18.0%).
• Tarrant County's rate is 16.6% and Tarrant County's child
food insecurity is 21.8%
• Three counties in Texas rank in the top 10 counties
nationally for the greatest number of food insecure
individuals: Tarrant is #10.
• '/a of all counties in the US with 100,000 or more food
insecure children are in Texas.
