LIBRARY DIRECTOR STATE OF TEXAS , COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Library Board of the Grapevine Public Library of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Regular Session on the 15th day of July, at 6:30PM in the Board Room, Grapevine Public Library, 1201 Municipal Way. The following members present to-wit: Janice Cook Chairman Lynda Brown Member Susan Peabody Secretary Gerald Shannon Member Janee Trasler Member Debbie Venable Member constituting a quorum, with the following member of the City Staff: Ruth Chiego, Library Director. Our new City Council Liaison, Darlene Freed, was welcomed. Karen Smith, board member, was absent. CALL TO ORDER Janice Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30PM. CITIZEN COMMENTS — none • MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Motion by Janee Trasler, seconded by Lynda Brown, to approve the May 13,2019 meeting minutes as written with one correction: Ayes: Unanimous Nays: None Introduction of the New Board Appointees All new appointees are returning board members (Janice, Lynda, Janee, and Debbie.) There was no formal action. • Update on the ALSC Grant Ruth reported that all details of the recent ALSC grant has been fulfilled and completed. 25 programs have occurred with 250 unique participants. The programs have been very well received. There was no formal action taken. • • Update on the Mobile Library Ruth reported that GROW van arrived in Grapevine on June 27, 2019. It is being processed into the fleet at the Service Center. Staff training is underway. Ruth is very pleased with the van. She shared that Janis Roberson is quite delighted with the results, too. The official unveiling event is planned for September 26th at 6:00PM at the Outreach Center. A lot of promotion is planned for the event as well as the GROW van's routine schedule after September 26th. There was no formal 01Policy Manual\Board Guidelines for Minutes 2013 . , I action taken. Update on Sensory Inclusive Certification Ruth announced library staff is now 100% trained. The program will roll out in August 2019. There was no formal action taken. Update on Library Marketing and Public Relations Ruth distributed a handout to the Board that listed four library promotional items. The Summer Reading Program decal was given to the board at the last board meeting. Three new table cloths embellished with"Grapevine Public Library" have been procured. A gold sticker is being designed to give one to each visitor to the new GROW van. And a grocery store type tote is being designed to serve as a book bag for users of the GROW van. There was no formal action taken. Update on 2019-2020 Budget Ruth informed the Board that the upcoming budget continues to be a flat budget, with funds allocated to pay for the new requirement of background checks of all volunteers. The usual meetings are scheduled in August through September prior to formal acceptance of the budget by the City Council. There was no formal action taken. Next Board Meeting The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2019 at 6:30PM. There was no formal action taken. ADJOURNMENT Gerald Shannon, seconded by Debbie Venable, motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:02PM.
