VAST serves elementary-aged students during the GCISD school
year. Kids receive homework/tutoring assistance and enrichment
activities including field trips, guest speakers, and interaction with

In 2006, The Texas Police Chiefs Association
developed a voluntary process for police agencies to
prove compliance with 168 Best Practices.
• The 168 standards include ethics, training use-of- Qotic�
force, & evidence management.
• Department is reworking policies to be in N
compliance. n �`
• Program allows 2-years for completion. �ss06ati`°
• Upon completion, GPD will put the policies into
practice and submit to TPCA for recognition.
