ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
A. SCOPE OF WORK
1. THE ELECTRICAL WORK SHALL CONSIST OF FURNISHING THE LABOR, MATERIALS AND ASSOCIATED
SERVICES REQUIRED TO COMPLETELY CONSTRUCT AND LEAVE READY FOR OPERATION THE
ELECTRICAL WORK SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND HEREIN SPECIFIED.
2. FOR ANY ITEM OF WORK IDENTIFIED ON THE DRAWING THAT IS REASONABLY INFERABLE AS A
COMPONENT IN A SYSTEM AND REQUIRED FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THAT SYSTEM, THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL INCLUDE OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE WORK NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETION AND FULLY
OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF THAT SYSTEM.
3. THE DRAWING INDICATES THE GENERAL DESIGN INTENT, BUT DOES NOT NECESSARILY DESCRIBE ALL
THE WORK REQUIRED FOR FULL PERFORMANCE AND COMPLETION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE
ALL ITEMS REQUIRED FOR THE PROPER EXECUTION AND COMPLETION OF THE WORK.
B. STANDARD FOR THE WORK
1. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE MANUFACTURED IN THE UNITED STATES AND SHALL BE
STANDARD PRODUCTS OF MANUFACTURERS REGULARLY ENGAGED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF SUCH
PRODUCT ESSENTIALLY DUPLICATING ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN IN SATISFACTORY USE FOR
AT LEAST 5 YEARS.
2. THE ELECTRICAL MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE LISTED BY THE UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES,
INC. AS CONFORMING TO ITS STANDARDS AND SO LABELED IN EVERY CASE WHERE SUCH A STANDARD
HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THE PARTICULAR TYPE OF MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT IN QUESTION.
3. GOOD WORKMANSHIP SHALL BE EVIDENCED IN THE INSTALLATION OF THE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT.
THE WORK SHALL BE LEVEL, PLUMB AND TRUE WITH THE STRUCTURE, THE ELECTRICAL WORKMANSHIP
SHALL CONFORM TO THE "STANDARD OF INSTALLATION" AS PUBLISHED BY THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (NECA).
4. THE WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE CODES AND ORDINANCES AND
THE LATEST EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (N.E.C.). THE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
SHALL BE EQUAL TO THAT HEREINAFTER SPECIFIED,

ON THE OUTSIDE AND WITH SMOOTH PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE OUTSIDE AND WITH SMOOTH
PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE INSIDE CONFORMING TO FEDERAL SPECIFICATION WW -C -563 AND SHALL
BE U.L. LISTED, FITTINGS SHALL BE U.L. LISTED AND SHALL BE SET SCREW OR COMPRESSION TYPE.
FITTINGS SHALL BE STEEL, NOT DIE -CAST.
E. CONDUIT INSTALLATION
1. RACEWAY FITTINGS SUCH AS LOCKNUTS, COUPLINGS, AND BUSHINGS SHALL BE HOT -DIP GALVANIZED,
CADMIUM - PLATED OR PROTECTED BY AN EQUIVALENT RUST - RESISTING FINISH.
2. RACEWAYS SHALL BE REAMED, BURRS REMOVED, AND SHALL BE CLEANED INSIDE BEFORE THE
INTRODUCTION OF CONDUCTORS. RACEWAY ENDS SHALL BE CAPPED AND PLUGGED WITH STANDARD
ACCESSORIES AS SOON AS SAME HAVE BEEN PERMANENTLY INSTALLED IN PLACE,

3. CONDUCTORS SHALL BE CONTINUOUS WITHOUT SPLICE OR JOINT BETWEEN CABINETS, JUNCTION BOXES,
AND OUTLET BOXES, SPLICES OF WIRE SHALL BE ELIMINATED WHEREVER POSSIBLE AND NECESSARY
SPLICES SHALL BE MADE ONLY AT READILY ACCESSIBLE PULL AND OUTLET BOXES. JOINTS, TAPS, AND
SPLICES IN WIRE NO.8 AND SMALLER SHALL BE MECHANICALLY TIGHT BY USE OF COMPRESSION
CONNECTORS.
G. TESTS
1. AT THE TIME OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE AND TESTS, CONNECTIONS SHALL BE COMPLETE AND SPLICES SHALL
BE MADE. TEST EACH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO PROVE IT IS FREE FROM SHORT CIRCUITS AND FROM
GROUNDS, AND TO PROVE IT IS FREE FROM RESISTANCE BETWEEN CONDUCTORS AND BETWEEN
CONDUCTORS AND GROUNDS, BASED ON MAXIMUM LOAD, NOT LESS THAN THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
LATEST EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AND OF THE LOCAL CODES AND ORDINANCES.
24 PROVIDE TESTING EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO SATISFACTORILY CONDUCT THE ABOVE ELECTRICAL TESTS.
3. INSTALLED PIPING SYSTEMS SHALL BE PRESSURE TESTED PRIOR TO BACKFILLING. REPAIR LEAKS AND
DEFECTS AND RETEST UNTIL SATISFACTORY RESULTS ARE OBTAINED.
H. CONDITIONS OF EQUIPMENT AT FINAL ACCEPTANCE
16 AT THE TIME OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE INSPECTED
INSTALLED SYSTEMS TO ASSURE THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN COMPLETED*
�. EXISTING PANELBOARD TO BE VACUUM CLEANED OF DEBRIS AND DUST, AND ALL
SURFACES FREE OF PAINT, GREASE, AND FINGERPRINTS.
b. TOUCH -UP ALL SCRATCHED SURFACES USING PAINT MATCHING THE EXISTING
EQUIPMENT PAINT. WHERE PAINT CANNOT BE MATCHED, THE ENTIRE SURFACE
SHALL BE REPAINTED IN A COLOR AND MANNER APPROVED BY THE OWNER.
