Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met August 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administration Conference Room at The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Christian Ross Roy Robertson Joe Luccioni Dana Gibson Terry Musar Mark Assaad Morgan Nichols Dave Buhr ABSENT Ray Harris LIAISONS Paul Slechta — City Council Jorge Rodriguez — GCISD Linda -Grace Assaad — GHS Student Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Kevin Mitchell, Director Chris Smith, Deputy Director Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager Cindy Harris, Volunteer Services Liaison The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by made by Joe Luccioni and seconded by Terry Musar to approve the July 18, 2019 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Christian Ross, Roy Robertson, Joe Luccioni, Dana Gibson, Terry Musar, Mark Assaad, Morgan Nichols, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Absent — Ray Harris Citizen Comments There were no citizen comments. New Business The September 19, 2019 Board Meeting location was discussed and changed to Parkwood Park. Consider approval of the following adopt -an -area name change: o From "Box Insurance" to "Box Financial Advisors" for Wall Street from Park Boulevard to Dove Road A motion was made by Mark Assaad and seconded by Joe Luccioni to approve the adopt -an - area name change. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Christian Ross, Roy Robertson, Joe Luccioni, Dana Gibson, Terry Musar, Mark Assaad, Morgan Nichols, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Absent — Ray Harris Consider approval of the following new adopt -an -area agreements: o Grapevine Rotary Club for the south side of Northwest Highway between South Main Street to Texan Trail o Five Star Subaru of Grapevine for the west side of Stone Myers Parkway from Mustang Drive to Westport Parkway A motion was made by Morgan Nichols and seconded by Mark Assaad to approve Grapevine Rotary Club & a motion was made by Terry Musar and seconded by Joe Luccioni to approve Five Star Subaru. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — Christian Ross, Roy Robertson, Joe Luccioni, Dana Gibson, Terry Musar, Mark Assaad, Morgan Nichols, and Dave Buhr Nays— None Absent — Ray Harris Presentation: Athletics Association Highlights — representatives from each of the following Athletic Organizations gave a presentation and summary report from the '18-'19 fiscal year, a Ryan Martin, President, Grapevine Youth Wrestling o Ryan Gradke, President, Mustang Panther Lacrosse a Nirav Assar, Commissioner, Grapevine Southlake Soccer Association a Mark Assaad, Grapevine Colleyville Youth Football Association o Trent Kelley, Recreation Manager, Grapevine Baseball & Softball PARD Information Items: Updates were given over the following divisions: • Athletics • Capital Projects • Lake Parks o Dove Creek Day Camp o Trawick & Sand Bass Boat Ramps to remain closed o The Vineyards Campground is expected to be fully operating by September 1 o Altitude H20 o Joe Luccioni asked about the DFW Surf location; it is McPherson Slough F, • Events o Sunset Live! @ The Garden • Park Maintenance o Parkwood Park new playground • Recreation o Amilia Statistics • Volunteerism Miscellaneous Board Items: • GCISD Report — Jorge Rodriguez reported on pre -kindergarten enrollment and AP & dual credit options ® GHS Report — Lina -Grace Assaad was introduced as the new Grapevine High School Student liaison and reported on her interests (tennis and lacrosse) and the new school year beginning on August 19 Adjourn A motion was made by Mark Assaad and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 p.m. Motion passed 8-0.
