Secretary Janet Perkins reported membership at 224 active members and $1,500 in
donations.
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield said Farm Manager Cody Jolliff was vacationing in
Iceland and he thanked all for the Skill & Trades Exposition with a total of 150 people;
47 presenters and 35 educators. For the month of February, 40 attended the First
Friday "Desserts" program; 30 participated in the Valentine Candy Making Workshop;
the Dallas Tres Estrellas tour had a total of 97 students; and thus far, for February a
total of 137 on their own daily visitors.
David Klempin reported on the Skills & Trades Exposition winter conference focusing on
the "Calico Ball" on Saturday evening. He complimented the success of the evening
with Mayor Tate's welcoming speech and the attendees all dressed from 1880 — 1910
with men in their appropriate military uniforms and the ladies with their hoop skirts; all
rallied in support as each nation's and state's flag was marched into the Grand Hall as
the ball began. The 16-piece brass band, and providing a great dance instructor, kept all
dancing the heritage dance steps of the past. He thanked the board for their service in
so many areas of the conference.
Treasurer Balla Wright said sponsorships were now at $15,500 of her goal of $17,500.
*Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield agreed to sponsor a Farm Supper; followed by
*Board Member Patricia Stinson who also agreed to a sponsorship.

January with 2,639 people and revenue of $40,000. Thirteen new events were booked
in January including the Texas Tenors, Ricki Derek, Kraig Parker, Grapevine Opry and
movies booked for December shows. During Spring Break, movies will be shown at 11
a.m. and 2 p.m. to bring more people to Main Street and the Palace will be offering
additional Summer Blast activities. The search continues for a new Palace Arts Center

V. NEW BUSINESS
Heritage Preservation Programs Manager David Klempin updated the group on the April
13, 2019 Spring Into Nash event noting it would be during the same time as Day Out
with Thomas and New Vintage Blessing of the Vines & Wine and Gallery Trail thanking
Paula Newman for working to coordinate staff to cover the multiple events. The Spring
Into Nash (SPIN) event will celebrate the 150th birthday of the Nash Farmhouse; many
activities will be the same as last year's SPIN, but with more emphasis on building skills
and trades. Living history presenters will be actively using heritage skills featuring family
carpentry tasks; concessions will be available in the Pole Barn with chicken noodle soup
and hot rolls with Vice Chairman Stanfield responsible for concessions and Treasurer
Wright responsible for farmhouse tours, both had their help scheduled.
Sue Franks asked if the Farm activities would be promoted by TEXRaiI and if they could
have a marquee on the platform there, Chairman Ratliff added they do have pre-
recorded verbal announcements now. Paula Newman said they are in meetings with
TEXRail regarding signage and directional sandwich boards to museum areas and
directional information have been placed. Council Liaison Mike Lease added, our tax
dollars paid for this area.
Managing Director Newman updated the group on the Convention & Visitors Bureau
Advisory Board's aid in acquiring the Ruby Moore House, at 619 Church Street, for
expansion of the Ted R. Ware Plaza & Museum Complex. This acquisition would allow
static exhibit space to tell the stories of the Sister Cities program; and group tours on
Main Street and in the museums. The St. Patrick's Sales Mission will be March 14, 15
and 16 in New York City to promote Grapevine's hotels and attractions. The Lone Star
Café has opened at 1300 South Main Street in the previous Braum's building; and the
UK Peppa Pig World at Play has opened at Grapevine Mills Mall with the reviews saying
better than the one other location in Shanghai.
The Grapevine Heritage Foundation's Preservation Advocacy Award nominations are
due by March 29 for the 2019 Awards Ceremony at the May 7, 2019 City Council
