HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Public Safety Radio System MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MAY 15, 2012
SUBJECT: PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO SYSTEM UPGRADE
The City of Grapevine joined the Northeast Tarrant County Radio Consortium (NETCO),
in 2002, to provide improved radio coverage for public safety personnel. In addition to
Grapevine the other consortium member cities include the cities of Bedford, Colleyville,
Keller, Euless and Southlake.
The member cities have agreed to share in the cost of the maintenance and
replacement of the radio system infrastructure as the needs arise. The system will soon
have to be replaced as the current system will no longer be supported by the
manufacturer. Chief Salame will provide an update on the proposed cost, as well as
additional options for improving the communications capability of the city.
