CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments.
ITEM 1 - Summary of Golf Course Operations 1st Quarter and discussion (Russell Pulley)
Russell reported on the 1st qtr. operations (October,November, December) of 2019 vs. 2018.
Russell reported that the 1st quarter was very good as compared to 2017 and 2018. Rounds were
up in excess of 5000 rounds, as well as overall operations revenue for the quarter. Russell
reported that good weather during this quarter played a major role in the increased rounds as well
as the increased revenue in all categories. Tom Cherry ask where the surplus of revenue goes in a
good year. Russell replied that it remains in the Enterprise Fund for future needed capital.
ITEM 2- Clubhouse Project Update (Russell Pulley)
Russell reported that we were still waiting on the official approval from The Corp of Engineers.
Kenneth Myers from the Corp said that it was in the hands of the Real Estate Division, which is
the last step of the process. Bid swill start soon from the sub-contractors on the project for
pricing. This process is likely to start in mid - February, in which pricing will hold in place for
90 days. Tom Kormondy ask about the waterline project and Russell replied that it is a separate
project from the clubhouse but will likely finish before or by the time the clubhouse project is
complete. Allowances have been made for water that might be needed for emergencies while the
project is going vertical.
ITEM 3—Erosion area on Bank of Discharge inlet behind #2 Green Pecan
Russell reported that approval from the Corp of Engineers is required, and that they require
engineered plans before work can begin. A new cart path from#2 Green of Pecan to the bridge
across the inlet will be constructed soon for safety concerns. The City Street Department will do
• - the work. The path will be located close to #8 tee of Pecan, further away from the edge of the
creek to address any safety concerns
ITEM 4 Address low water areas on #3,#4, and #5 of Bluebonnet(Russell Pulley)
Russell reported that the Flower Mound Engineer's water flow analytics said that we were not to
get any more surface water than before the project across the fence of hole#4 of Bluebonnet
- began, once their designed drainage system was in place and operational. Rip Rap was to be
added on both sides of the concrete bridge at#4 tee of Bluebonnet. This was to help the water
flow under the bridge into the marsh area in front of#4 tee. To be noted, much of the additional
water is coming from Flower Mound, from the north, flowing the additional water that we are
seeing on#3, #4, and#5 of Bluebonnet.
ITEM 5—Benches (Russell Pulley)
Russell reported that the plan for benches on the course was to install benches similar to the ones
that the Parks Department within the City uses. This will take time, as the cost of the benches is
around$1 k per bench.
ITEM 6-Resident Annual Fee (Russell Pulley)
Russel reported that because we have started this budget year, we could not change rates, but
would look at possibilities for next year 2020-2021 budget year
ITEM 7-Instructional Program Update (Jr. Academy, PGA Jr. League. Get Golf Ready)
(Robert Singletary)
ITEM 8- Golf Course Maintenance Report(Merlin Tielkemeier)
Merlin reported that he is adding sand to bunkers needing sand. Ronnie Hatley also ask about the
bunkers and Merlin reported he has added sand to 6-7 bunkers already and is planning on
evaluating and doing more. He reported that he just had received a new load of bunker sand.
Merlin also said that they are using a different tine on the sand pro and that it seems to be helping
the cause. Merlin reported that over the fall, he has been able to complete his irrigation upgrade.
