Update on the Mobile Library
Ruth reported that GROW bus continues to get up to speed as the first six months are focused on
the Outreach Centers. Since October 1, 2019, the bus has made 18 outreach center visits ; 1288
visitors have boarded the bus; and typically about 2300 items stocked on the bus. The length of
visit averages two hours (ranging from ninety minutes to five hours.) Two part-time personnel (19
hours/week) staff the bus. 152 new library cards have been processed with 80% of the new
cardholders never before having visited the library. 822 items have been circulated and there have
been no overdue items and no losse s. Ruth shared a list of nine locations visited so far. Older
clientele has not yet been visited. Ruth is still interviewing for a driver and hopes to have a pool of
drivers to call upon as needed. There was no formal action taken.
Update on Partnership Development
Ruth announced partnership development with three different groups: 1) “Champion Services”
which is a special needs group with ages from 20 -60 years; 2) “Club All-Access” which is part of the
2
Parks and Rec outreach with individuals (20 -30 years of age) who meet two times a month as a
group; 3) “Goodwill STARS” which is an organization headquartered on Mustang Drive and just
recently reached out to the library. There was no formal action taken.

Ruth announced that Kenneth Wilkinson has been hired as a Library Assistant and Jennifer Pettit
has been hired as a part-time Library Assistant. There was no formal action taken.
2019 Highlights Report
Ruth shared a report of the various library highlights during 2019 and most numbers showed
increases. The “Fine-Free” outcomes since December 2018 total $8348 not collected. It was
noted that a patron must still pay for a lost book. $1516 is the total loss the library bears (less
copies made, lost books paid, faxing, and postage.) Three checkouts of an item can be made for a
total of nine weeks, but if the accrued fine is greater than $15, no additional checkouts are allowed
until the item is returned. There was no formal action taken.
Upcoming Library Special Programs
Ruth informed the board that the new VOX books are very popular. Each book has a twelve month
warranty. This first set consists of 115 books. The March Spring Break week will have a Circus
theme, including a Clown College visit. The Teens will have a Winter/Spring “Peeps Diorama”
event. The Create It space will hosts six programs and a lab. Adults can enjoy Bird Sanctuary
Weeks, Jewelry making, classical guitarist Peter Fletcher, and a De-Cluttering Program. There was
no formal action taken.
