SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT FOR
THE REC
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of exercise equipment
for The REC from Team Marathon Fitness for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Machinery and Equipment budget (100-48860-
312-008) for a total amount not to exceed $45,938.30.
BACKGROUND: This project is part of the annual equipment replacement for The REC.
Every year The REC replaces approximately 1/3 of its cardiovascular
equipment that is out of warranty and beyond its life cycle for equipment
being used in a commercial setting.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Team
Marathon Fitness. The Parks and Recreation and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval
