Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Dr. Curtis Ratliff 2. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman Ratliff or upon the consent of the Board. Adjournment The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will beheld on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. January 15, 2020 Regular Monthly Board Meeting 1 = ag aflyr-am AL11-knot gj� Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the November 7, 2019 Annual Meeting of the Membership. Becky Hummer seconded the motion, which prevailed in the following vote: Ayes: 6 (Ratliff, Wright, Perkins, Hummer, Jensen and Nelson) Nays: 0 None Absent: 2 (Stanfield and Fray) F, W01 a p1l -.11 ZUT in, 12-17= Secretary Janet Perkins stated the Foundation had 190 active members in December 2nd donations of $350. A new activity was the Elf Adventure Passport to take you from the Farm to the Settlement to City Museums to use the Keeling's printing press or joining in the Settlement to City Museums for a Saturday afternoon of Christmas with the Keelings and "family traditions of making ornaments" and the next Saturday afternoon was story tellers with Tales of Victorian Christmases. Our Grapevine heritage traditions advanced across Main Street on the Elf Adventure Passport to join in the Christmas Capital of Texas "North Pole Neighborhood" with staff opening up the Blacksmith's to stamp out luggage or gift tags; the Bragg House as the Tin Shop to make a piece of metal tinsel; and the Section Foreman House for decorating a wooden train, capturing the Magic of Christmas and taking home handmade gifts. 'February 1 at Settlement to City museums 10 am. — Noon: Valentine Card Printing 7 at Nash Farm 10 a.m.- Noon: First Friday Crafting Historic Valentines 8 at Nash Farm 10 a.m.- Noon: Victorian Valentines Regular Monthly Board Meeting 2 January 15, 2020 Treasurer Wright reported Sponsorships at $11,000 for 2020; and updated the board she had heard from one of the Foundation's scholarship past recipients, Hect!r, who is now in his second semester as a junior in Houston. 6Z 0 1 ATITA -Wi Chairman Ratliff had asked board members at the end of 2019 to schedule a meeting with him to sit down dMone-on-one meeting to discuss the future of the Foundation. He felt very positive about this board moving forward in maintaining Grapevine's heritage and from this asked for the regular monthly meeting to have a 15-20 minutes educational time on the agendas, this series will include: The History of the Foundation in February; Preservation Education; Secretary of the Interior Standards; and the Texas Historical Society. He called on Heritage Preservation Programs manager David Klempin to move forward *n scheduling a Strategic Planning Session. 1111,Iq• IIIII I� !IIIIpg;Ig 'III I AF Secretary Perkins noted the Dallas Museum of Art's printed information on becoming a member is a much easier read to understand, our levels are difficult to distinguish between. Council Liaison O'Dell noted the term Patron being preferable with levels such as Spirit Patron, Trailblazer Patrons. Secretary Perkins' study showed 13 people are responsible for the bulk of the Foundation's revenue. Determining the majority of funds from Sponsors, Council Liaison O'Dell said the Sponsor's names and logos was well received. Secretary Perkins noted Sponsor's signs on wagons in Christmas parade, why not have top Sponsors/Donors riding in the wagons - Sponsors on Board. Secretary Perkins stated the change in limiting donations for tax deductions had not been good, perhaps they could ignite some new memberships with camp fire events at the Farm. Several concepts were discussed for increasing membership, Secretary Perkins questioned getting a flyer to the right people, Council Liaison O'Dell said social media was the key and to forward anything to her and she would forward on to the Grapevine Historical Society. IIIIII IIIIIIIIEIIII I Chairman Ratliff called for any comments on the 2020 proposed meeting dates, saying the November Annual Meeting date had been moved back one week, to November 12, ilue to conflict with the many other Foundation actives in the previous week. He also said there could be a need to change the September meeting date as it falls on the same Wednesday as the GrapeFest load in. Regular Monthly Board Meeting 3 January 15, 2020 Sue Franks made the motion to accept the meeting dates as proposed.
