Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation Board under citizen comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen
Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board regarding
an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being
recognized by the chairman Ratliff or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the
Texas open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen
Comments.

The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be held on Wednesday,
March 18, 2020 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2nd Floor Boardroom,
536 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. If you plan to attend this public meeting and you have a
disability requiring special arrangements, please contact the office of Historic Preservation at 817-
410-3185 at least 24 hours in advance. Reasonable accommodations will be made to assist your
needs.
In accordance with Texas Government code, Chapter 551.001 et seq. Acts of the 1993 Texas
Legislature, the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Annual Membership Meeting agenda was prepared
and posted by the 12th day of February, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly
meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in the 2nd Floor Boardroom of
the Grapevine convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas
76051.

1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Curtis Ratliff called the meeting to order at 5 p.m.
2. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no citizen comments registered.
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request farm. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory ward is restricted in discussing or
taking action during Citizen Comments.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Balla Wright made the motion to accept the minutes as written from the January 15,
2020 Regular Meeting. Melva Stanfield seconded the motion, which prevailed in the
following vote:
Ayes: 7 (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Perkins, Franks, Hummer and Nelson)
Nays: 0 None
Absent: 2 (Fray and Jensen)
4. OLD BUSINESS
Membership Report - Janet Perkins
Secretary Janet Perkins stated the Foundation had 190 active members in January with
donations of $1,500 and $100 and an order for a Palace Arts center personalized brick
for a total $19850.
Secretary Perkins announced they had narrowed down their objectives and outreach to
gain new members; the Membership committee would meet at 0 p.m. today, following
this meeting.
Nash Farm Report— Melva Stanfield
Nash Farm and the Settlement to City Museums closed out 2019 with a very successful
holiday and great attendance records. The Farm started off the New Year with the
Annual Hog Butchering and Curing 2-day Workshop on January 18 & 19, sold out
again; Saturday, February 1 with Valentine Card Printing in the Settlement to City
Museums; February 7 was our First Friday program with 95 attendees Crafting Historic
Valentines; and on Saturday, February 8, 2020, another full house at the Farm with all
fashioning their own special Victorian Valentines. Thus far for February, we have had
319 visitors to Nash Farm.
5. NEW BUSINESS
Educational session: Grapevine Heritage Foundation History— Melva Stanfield
Vice Chairman Stanfield stated Grapevine's agricultural history, the lifeline of the
railroad and the many who had fought to keep Grapevine's heritage alive recognized
and championed protecting our Historic Main Street, Township and Cotton Belt Districts.
She summed up the success due to: 1) organization; 2) promotion; 3) design; and 4)
economic development.
Chairman Ratliff thanked her for reporting the Foundation's history and said next
month's topic would be "What The Grapevine Heritage Foundation Does".

Sponsorship opportunities for 2020 — Baba Wright and Cody Jolliff
Treasurer Wright and Farm Manager Cody Jolliff passed out a list of sponsorship levels
available with a sign-up sheet for sponsors. Most 2020 sponsorships have now been
secu red with a Iota I of $15,750 of the $20 1 000 goa I fo r th is yea r.
Procedure for Recording Board Member Volunteer Hours — Curtis Ratliff
Chairman Ratliff noted the city's policy of recording board member's volunteer hours
spent in meetings, events and specialized committees to be recognized and recorded;
giving each member a list of examples. He followed with a sign-up sheet to list their
activities and hours for the month of January 2020; members will report their hours for
the previous month at the regular scheduled advisory board meetings.
Grapevine convention & Visitors Bureau Update --- Paula Newman
In May, Trip Advisor will recognize Grapevine's Main Street as one of the Top Nine
Main Streets. The Texas Travel Industry Association will hold their annual "Travel Expo"
in Grapevine April 5 - 9, 2020; followed by the Meeting Professionals International
"World Education Congress" here June 0 — 9, 2020 with 1,500 meeting professionals
attending.
The Dallas Road Project now underway will increase and connect hike and biking trails;
plus, a center median with plantings to be more pedestrian friendly; work to be
completed by 2021. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad (GVRR) Depot is getting a new
stationary dock for more event space and to increase the use of the historic buildings
there. GVRR service will resume with a Leap Year celebration. The 1905 Historic
Roberson Tarwater Lipscomb House move to 608 South Dooley is underway.
The Palace Arts Center heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system was installed
in January after the holidays; the new system has made way for also improving the roof.
March at the Palace Theatre is Julie Andrews month with the First Friday Film Mary
Poppins, and on Saturday Thoroughly Modern Millie, with more Julie Andrews movies
throughout the month. The Palace will host live music on February 28 with Branson's
The Petersons blue grass band; and start planning now for the Palace Art Center's 801n
Anniversary on November2l!
P.W. McCallum spoke regarding the opening of Hudgins Street to connect Nash Farm
to Main Street for a Public Art walk with interpretive markers; just north of here was
where Jake Waymire had fired the bricks for the buildings on Main Street. Balla Wright
had generously requested donations to honor the memory of her husband, Joe Wright,
to begin a public art exhibit at Nash Farm; the vision for the piece has now morphed into
a very realistic lean bronze farmer, of the time period 1890 — 1910, chopping cotton
there on the southeast corner of Nash Farm, at Ball Street and Homestead Lane. Mr.
McCallum said the process would begin with a request for qualifications from artists with

the casting to be done at the Grapevine Foundry; after finding the right artist they would
take before the Public Art commission; City Council in July; then negotiate a contract
with the artist, with the piece to be completed and dedicated at the Spring Into Nash
2021 event providing no unforeseen delays
City Council Liaison Update -- Council Member Duff O'Dell
Council Liaison O'Dell reminded all the Grapevine Historical Society (GHS) program on
Monday night would be local columnist and writer Dave Lieber discussing his book
"Amon", Fort Worth's Amon Carter. The GHS' Texas Independence Day this year will be
a history lesson on the Peace Circle; she requested Peace Circle brochures for their
program.
Council Member O'Dell stated with the land boom in Grapevine, there are still properties
being repurposed; Council has approved Stacy's property for additional warehouses;
and additional restaurants are being vetted through the Economic Development
department. Business is still booming.
The GHF board members complimented January's GHS program featuring the baseball
players from The Hill.
Sue Franks updated the group on Board Member Emerita Patricia Stinson, saying Pat
was in town and had planned on attending this meeting but had another fall and her arm
is now healing in a sling.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Sue Franks, seconded by Becky Hummer, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at
6:15 p.m. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: 7 (Ratliff, Stanfield, Wright, Perkins, Franks, Hummer and Nelson)
Nays: 0 None
Absent: 2 (Fray and Jensen)
This meeting was followed immediately by a meeting of the Membership Committee.
