SUBJECT: ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES CONTRACT — WATER
LINE EXTENSION PROJECT FROM SHADYBROOK TO DOVE
LOOP AT DUBLIN STREET
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving an Engineering Services Contract with Goodwin and
Marshall, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $57,500.00 plus 10% contingencies for
engineering design services on the 12-inch waterline extension from Shadybrook Drive
to the south boundary of Lake Pointe Subdivision and from the north boundary of Lake
Pointe Subdivision to the intersection of Dove Loop and Dublin Street, authorize the City
Manager to execute the necessary documents, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING:
Funds are available in the Un-appropriated Utility Fund Balance in account 200-48930-
534-8-000036WA.
BACKGROUND:
The City's water distribution master plan includes this proposed 12-inch water line to
convey additional water to the northwest portion of the City where peak demand puts a
strain on the existing delivery capabilities. Construction of this 12-inch line supplements
the Lake Pointe Subdivision 12-inch waterline improvements also on the City's master
plan.
Council authorized City cost participation in the 12-inch water line through the
subdivision at the December 18, 2012 City Council meeting. The proposed 12-inch
waterline connects to the 12-inch line improvements within the subdivision and
completes the 12- inch line identified in the master plan.
Goodwin and Marshall, Inc. prepared the design and construction plans forte Lake
Pointe Subdivision infrastructure and has knowledge of the overall line routing to
complete the project.
