SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
NETWORK STORAGE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
RECOMMENDATION:
it Council to consider approval of a resolution forte purchase of network storage
hardware and software from Alexander Open Systems, Inc. through a contract
established by the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)
Cooperative Contracts Program.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in various accounts noted in the amount
not to exceed $95,983.00.

BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with a contract established with Alexander
Open Systems, Inc. by the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)
Cooperative Contracts Program. The it is allowed to participate in this program
through our cooperative membership. Purchases through this program are authorized
under Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271, Subehapter D and Texas
Government Code Chapter 2054, Section 2054.0565 (b).
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to Alexander Open
Systems, Inc. The IT Department staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for
specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the
best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The Cooperative Purchasing
Agreement satisfies all bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code.

This purchase request is for EMC network storage and three years of support. This
network storage will be used in the server virtualization environment. It will replace
some end of life HP storage.
Staff recommends approval.
