EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. City Council to conduct a closed session relative to personnel
(consider and evaluate the position of City Manager) under
amendments to Article 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S. , Subsection 2 (g) .
City Council to reconvene in open session and take any
necessary action relative to personnel (consider and evaluate
the position of City Manager) under amendments to Article '
6252-17, V.A.T.C. S. , Subsection 2 (g) .
ADJOURNMENT

CITY OF GRAPEVINE
The City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Special
Session on this the 13th day of July, 1992 at 5: 00 p.m. in the
Council Chambers, Municipal Court Room #205, 307 West Dallas Road,
with the following members present to-wit:
William D. Tate Mayor
' Ted R. Ware Mayor Pro Tem
C. Shane Wilbanks Council Member
Gil Traverse Council Member
Jerry L. Pittman Council Member
Will Wickman Council Member
constituting a quorum, with Council Member Sharron Spencer absent,
with the following members of the City Staff:
Mark S. Watson City Manager
Trent Petty Assistant City Manager
John F. Boyle, Jr. City Attorney
Linda Huff City Secretary
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Tate called the meeting to order at 5:20 p.m.
INVOCATION
Council Member Wilbanks delivered the Invocation.
' ITEM l. EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Tate announced the City Council would conduct a closed
session relative to personnel (consider and evaluate the position
of City Manager) under amendments to Article 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S. ,
Subsection 2 (g) .
Upon reconvening in open session in the Council Chambers, Mayor
Tate asked City Manager Watson what action was necessary relative
to personnel (consider and evaluate the position of City Manager)
under amendments to Article 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S. , Subsection 2 (g) .
City Manager Mark S. Watson stated he had submitted his resignation
to the City of Grapevine to be effective the end of the fiscal
year. He expressed his appreciation to the City of Grapevine for
the opportunity to work with the Community and the professional
Staff of the City.

Council Member Wilbanks made a motion to accept Mr. Watson�s
resignation to be effective immediately and that in accordance with �
the submitted resignation, salary and benefits (that would have
been received from the City had Mr. Watson remained in the City's
employment) be paid through the balance of the fiscal year. Also,
that he receive any vacation and sick leave buy back as of the end
of September 30, 1992 in accordance with City policy. In exchange
for accepting the resignation to be effective immediately, it is '
recommended that the City fund an additional two (2) months of
health care benefits for the family to be in a cash payment
settlement in October, 1992 at the cost per month as of July 13 ,
1992 . It is also recommended that the termination with the City be
effected as soon as possible with Mr. Watson's resignations from
appropriate boards and removal of personal effects to allow
transition for an Interim City Manager.
The motion was seconded by Council Member Wickman and prevailed by
the following vote:
Ayes . Tate, Ware, Wilbanks, Traverse, Pittman & Wickman
Nays . None
Absent: Spencer
Mayor Tate expressed the City Council's appreciation for Mr.
Watson's contributions to the City.
Council Member Traverse, seconded by Council Member Pittman,
offered a motion that Assistant City Manager Trent Petty be named
as Interim City Manager. The motion prevailed by the following
vote:
Ayes . Tate, Ware, Wilbanks, Traverse, Pittman & Wickman
Nays . None
Absent: Spencer
ADJOURNMENT
Council Member Wickman, seconded by Council Member Pittman, made a
motion to adjourn at 6: 20 p.m. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:
Ayes . Tate, Ware, Wilbanks, Traverse, Pittman & Wickman
Nays . None
Absent: Spencer
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS on this the 21st day of July , 1992 .
