SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE EMERGENCY PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC
CONTROL EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approving and ratifying the emergency purchase
of traffic control equipment from Consolidated Traffic Controls for the
Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Projects Fund (177) for a total amount
not to exceed $58,014.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push buttons for
the traffic signals on Main Street beginning at Wall Street to Hudgins
Street. This purchase also includes traffic signals and battery backup
units for Main Street at Texas Street, East Franklin Street and Hudgins
Street.
An emergency purchase order was issued to Consolidated Traffic
Controls for the traffic control equipment on April 22, 2020. This purchase
was made using an interlocal agreement with Houston -Galveston Area
Council (HGAC) purchasing cooperative.
Staff recommends approval.
