SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF POLICE
UP -FIT EQUIPMENT FOR POLICE VEHICLES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase and installation of
police up -fit equipment for police vehicles from Dana Safety Supply for the
Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Motor Vehicle budget (325-48910-209-000-
200001) for an amount not to exceed $121,601.
BACKGROUND: This approval will be for the purchase and installation of police equipment
in four new Police Tahoes and three new Police Ford Interceptor vehicles.
This equipment consists of lighting packages, protective barriers,
partitions, consoles, prisoner seats, electronic equipment, gun racks,
radios, computers, radars, storage compartments and miscellaneous
equipment. The equipment and up -fitting of the Police vehicles meets the
Police and Fleet Departments' standards and specifications.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Dana
Safety Supply. The Fleet Services and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
