AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE
OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING CHAPTER 23 TRAFFIC,
SECTION 23-26 SPEED LIMITS - SCHEDULES FOR
CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS AND WAYS AND SECTION
23-27 - SCHEDULES OF ADDITIONAL SCHOOL ZONES, BY
SPECIFYING THE REASONABLE AND PRUDENT SPEED
FOR A CERTAIN AREA TO BE DESIGNATED AS A SCHOOL
ZONE; AUTHORIZING THE ERECTION OF TRAFFIC
REGULATION SIGNS; REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO
EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS
(5200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE AND A SEPARATE
OFFENSE SHALL BE DEEMED COMMITTED EACH DAY
DURING OR ON WHICH AN OFFENSE OCCURS OR
CONTINUES; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS:
Section 1 . That Chapter 23 Traffic, Section 23-26 Speed Limits - Schedules
for Certain Public Streets and Ways, of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby
amended by the deletion of the following:
"Loop 382, Control 353-7
(b)(1) School Zone: From Station 1344+50 westerly 0.189 mile to
station 1354+ 50:
When so signed for school crossing 30 mph
At all other times 35 mph
(b)(2) School Zone: From Station 1375+20 westerly 0.167 mile to
Station 1384+00:

When so signed for school crossing 30 mph
At all other times 35 mph

(a)11 ) School Zone: From Station 317+00 (approximately 630 feet
�,, southwest of Mustang Drive) northeasterly 0.204 mile to station
327+75 (approximately 445 feet northeast of Mustang Drive):
On school days from 7:00 a.m. to
9:00 a.m.and from 2:00 p.m. to
4:00 p.m. 35 mph
At other times 45 mph"
Section 2. That Chapter 23 Traffic, Section 23-27 Speed Limits - Schedules
of Additional School Zones, of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby amended
by amending Section heading to read as follows:
"The city manager shall have twenty (20) mile per hour speed limit signs
installed in the designated school zones listed below, which are hereby
designated twenty (20) mile per hour zones during the times herein stated. The
signs shall indicate that the twenty (20) mile per hour speed limit will be in
effect on school days during the hours of 7:30 a.m. through 8:30 a.m. and
2:15 p.m. through 3:30 p.m."

Additional School Zones, of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by
�� the deletion of the following zones:
"Hall-Johnson Road from the intersection of Pool Road 500 feet east.
Pool Road from the intersection of Hall-Johnson Road 500 feet north.
PoolRoad beginning 500 feet south of State Highway 26 and continuing south
1 ,190 feet.
Timberline Drive from the intersection of Tanglewood Drive to the intersection
of Mustang Drive.
Timberline Drive beginning at the intersection of Mustang Drive and Timberline
Drive and ending 170 feet east of Creekwood Drive West, with signs posted
at the beginning for southbound traffic and at the end for north and west bound
traffic."

Section 4. That Chapter 23 Traffic, Section 23-27 Speed Limits - Schedules
of Additional School Zones, of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby amended
by the following additional school zones:

"D00%y Street from the south side of the intersection with Park Road #8 to the
south side of the intersection with Riverside Drive.
PoolRoad from the north side of the intersection with Twelve Oaks Lane to the
south side of the intersection with High Meadows Drive.
Timberline Drive from the north side of the intersection with Stone Creek Lane
to the east side of the intersection with Twin Creek Cove."
Section 4. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to have
the proper traffic signs erected, constructed, and placed at such points along said
highways, streets or alleys, or portions thereof under construction, maintenance, or
repair, so that travelers will be reasonably notified of said traffic regulations.
Section 5. That all ordinances or any parts thereof in conflict with the terms
of this ordinance shall be and hereby are deemed repealed and of no force or effect
provided, however, that the ordinance or ordinances under which the cases currently '
filed and pending in the Municipal Court of the City of Grapevine, Texas, shall be ,
'��� deemed repealed only when all such cases filed and pending under such ordinance or
ordinances have been disposed of by a final conviction or a finding of not guilty, nolo
�� contendere or dismissal.
Section 6. Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction in the
Municipal Court, shall be fined in an amount not to exceed the sum of Two Hundred
Dollars (5200.00) for each offense and a separate offense shall be deemed committed
each day during or on which an offense occurs or continues.
Section 7. If any section, article, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
in this ordinance, or application thereto any person or circumstance is held invalid or
unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City Council hereby
declares it would have passed such remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City
Council hereby declares it would have passed such remaining portions of this
ordinance despite such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force
and effect.
Section 8. The fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of
�„e1 Grapevine, Texas, do not adequately regulate the traffic within the City creates an
emergency and the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare requires that
this ordinance take effect immediately from and after the date of its passage.
