HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1969-034 ORDINANCE NO. 69-34 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THAT NO GAS OR ELECTRIC LINE SHALL BE PRIVATELY OWNED E1ND MAINTAINED FOR MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED FEET BEYOND THE POINT OF NIETERING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Whereas the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas has made a study concerning privately owned utility lines beyond the point where the product is metered, and Whereas, such study has disclosed that such privately owned utility lines are not properly maintained, and Whereas, such study further discloses that improperly maintained gas and electric utility lines are a menace to the public health and welfare of all of the citizens of the City of Grapevine, Texas, and Whereas, it would be in the best interest and to the benefit of all of the citizens of the City of Grapevine, Texas, that there be a minimum of privately owned gas and electric utility lines beyond the point where the product is metered, Now therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, that no gas or electric utility line, shall be privately owned and maintained for more than 200 feet beyond the point where such product is metered, that is the point of consumption of the utility product shall not be more than 200 feet beyond the point where same is metered. It is especially found an d determined by said City � Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas that the welfare and the well being of all of the citizens of the City of Grapevine, Texas, will be endangered if gas and electric utility products are not consumed within at least 200 feet of the point where same are metered because of the poor maintenance and lack of uniform material and workmanship of privately owned gas and electric utility lines beyond the point of inetering, and the 200 feet distance ordered herein is hereby found and determined to be the maximum distance that such utility lines can be installed and maintained between the point of metering and the point of consumption. The fact that meters can now be set on gas and electric utility lines at any point with no maximum distan ce between such point and the point of consumption and thereby the health and well being of the citizens of the City of Grapevine, Texas are now being endangered, presents an emergency and warrants a waiver of the reading of this ordinance on more than one (1) occasion and the reading of such ordinan ce on more than one (1) occasion is hereby waived and this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
